Winter season – Ski & snowboarding in Oberstdorf

Ski operation & mountain lifts

For the winter season 2025/26 the following operating periods are currently planned (depending on snow and weather conditions):

• Fellhornbahn: 05.12.2025 – 06.04.2026
• Kanzelwandbahn: 05.12.2025 – 06.04.2026
• Nebelhornbahn: 13.12.2025 – 03.05.2026
• Söllereckbahn: 19.12.2025 – 06.04.2026
• Walmendingerhornbahn: 19.12.2025 – 06.04.2026
• Ifen: 12.12.2025 – 12.04.2026
• Heubergbahn (Kleinwalsertal): 19.12.2025 – 06.04.2026

Please note: Early bird rides with the Olympiabahn are available from 07:45 (from February until the end of the season). Ifen I/II starts at 08:30.

In general, first uphill rides start around 8:30 am (exceptions see Ifen), last descents are usually between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. Before you set off, we recommend checking the daily status of lifts, pistes and cross-country trails.

Cross-country skiing & Nordic

At the Nordic Centre Oberstdorf, the snowfarming trail usually opens already in November 2025 with fixed training slots (subject to a fee). The other cross-country trails in the valley follow as soon as there is sufficient natural snow. On several evenings per week a lit night trail is available – perfect for those who still have energy after dinner.

Advent & Christmas time in Oberstdorf 2025

The run-up to Christmas is particularly atmospheric in Oberstdorf:

• Oberstdorf Advent – official opening: Saturday, 29.11.2025
• Oberstdorf Christmas market: 29.11.2025 – 20.12.2025, always on Saturdays from 2:00–8:00 pm

In the local event calendar you’ll find additional concerts, guided walks and festive activities in and around the village.

Tips for your winter holiday

• Ski pass & ski bus: One ski pass covers all ski areas in Oberstdorf / Kleinwalsertal.
• Rental equipment: Pre-booking your skis, snowboard or boots saves waiting time on your first day on the slopes.
• Safety & weather: Strong winds or heavy snowfall can lead to short-term changes to lift operations. Check the current status in the morning before you head out.
